Default Hi RPM Alum Block

Give me some particulars on what would make a great high winding Alum. Block Pontiac engine. Considering building one using my CV-1's and would like opinions on what would make a sweet high winding small cubic inch Pontiac....thinkin' around 440 cubes but am open to suggestions.
Thinkin' 'bout buyin' an Alum. IA@ currently on sale.

4 x 4.25 = 453
3.75 x 4.25 = 423

Higher winding:

4.35 Bore x 3.75 Stroke = 445 CID

High winding suggest short stroke. And I'd keep the stroke at 4.0 or less so that the pistons stay up in the bore and don't get unstable at BDC.

4.31 x 3.75 - 438ci
I do not recall the specs on your CV-1's, also what intake are you considering using? How high is "high RPM" to you?

4.375 x 3.50 = 421 c.i. Traditional size, lots of rpm.

4.25 x 4 = 453.94675 rounds to 454
4.255 x 4= 455.0154883 rounds to 455
4.32 x 4 = 469.0234368 rounds to 469
4.32 x 3.75 = 439.709472 rounds to 440
4.25 x 3.875 = 439.7609140625 rounds to 440
4.28 x 3.85 = 443.11385272 rounds to 443
IMO the 4.32 bore x 3.75 stroke 440 in a short deck would allow light piston with good ring placement and shorter rod help recip weight.
In a std deck I'd do the 469" combo

If you really want to wing this Pontiac up the RPM band, 8800+, I like Dave Wicox's 3.5" stroke. Not sure if you can run 4.375" in the aluminum block. That would leave .100 approx sleeve thickness. That's pretty thin. Some aluminum blocks will run as thin as .090" but keeping them straight and round may be an issue. I would try and stay around 4.325" bore myself. Like the 3.5" stroke though.

Talking NSS high winder

Mine is a 505 that turns 8000 RPM and is very reliable. You can reduce the stroke to get the 440 you are looking for. Mine is the standard deck al. rod motor. I am very pleased with mine. Mine is the 2.0 HP per cubic inch motor. For reasons I choose, not to turn it to 9000 RPM to get the extra HP. But that could be done with different value springs. Hope this helps.

I have had made several of the Kellogg (Moldex Ground) 366 crankshafts over the years with a bit more stroke (3.5 vs stock 3.375) and they rpm very well.

The original Rodney Butler Twin Turbo IA-1 engine used a slightly bigger stroke (same forging) 3.6" and made 2885 HP with the thing.

Why the small ci and high rpm? Is there a class you're looking at running? Big ci and high rpm makes for a lot more hp.

What do your heads flow? Based on those numbers this may need to be adjusted.

Bore = 4.35
Stroke = 3.75
ci = 445.85
rpm peak HP = 9500
ve @ peak HP rpm = 115%
mass air flow 6455 lbs/hr

Stan's numbers say you would make about 1070 HP at 9500 rpm. 445 cid engine. ~2.39 HP per cid

I have a flow sheet from Dave Bisschop @ SD Performance....but if I make it small enough to download onto this sight....it is to pixelated to read.
