I saved my original, I thought. My dad or one of my brothers robbed it out of my the Fram box and paper sack it was sealed up in, they put their old filter in the Fram box. May have many years before I found out...oh well.

Well it arrived. The foam is absolutely soft and not deteriorated. It is a finishing touch and looks right at home.

I took the car on a 40 mile run. This "new" 542C filter seems to flow better than the later issue AC Delco it replaced. The air temp was 60 degrees, but it seemed to pick up some high end power, and I can now hear the secondaries through the unmodified intake system.

Wow.

You got Big 'Un's sawing up your roof for the "T" Tops, amazing job! When I read that I was in disbelief, and very impressed. You could do a whole detailed blog on how you did it
I thought of doing the same thing, but hell, I wont even put a hole in my roof for a CB Antenna.

I can't even remember what the "Stock" engine looked like as I viewed your pics in this thread. I was more into hot rodding (still am) and went immediately down the Mod path - the first thing I did 44 years ago was rip out all of the emissions crap and gut the cat converter.

Also see you got those original tires - that had me chuckle as I still have the original Uniroyal's mounted on the old oxidized snowflakes stashed in my basement.

My car is not completely stock. It has a true dual Pypes exhaust with Hooker Super Comp tube headers, rejetted carb, and recurved distributor. It runs much better than brand new '77 would have for sure.

The T-Top conversion was not too bad. Just had to be very careful and take things slow since I was dealing with a nice paint/interior car. I made templates from an entire original roof I purchased from another PY board member. I just could not locate a 4 speed Y82 that wasn't a patched together POS or a $80k show queen. So I took this superb original factory Starlight black 43k mile T/A and built it the way I wanted for FAR less money.

I was able to locate a mint original T-Top trunk bag with the gold Hurst Hatch logo spelled out. The reproduction I already have is a decent one, but did not have the correct "HH" logo. This is most certainly due to licensing costs. At least the quality was there, unlike some..

The RH door weatherstripping had seen better days, especially on the ends. The R&R took less than 40 mins. The NOS strip went on perfectly, and no slamming of the door.

The passengers lower plastic door panel was warped, and the leading edge was cracked. A new OER part was sourced. I have to say, the grain, and fit were spot on. These are a great reproduction. Other than different markings on the backside, you would have a hard time telling it apart from an original, if an original existed that wasn't warped.
