BOP seal
I'm going to use the BOP one piece rear seal. After some cutting, filing and sanding to get it to fit without buckling and getting the ends to butt-up square it fits good.
My question is, can I use some sort of silicone or adhesive in the groove and or anti-rotation slots to help hold it from turning? The instructions say that nothing is needed but I would feel better if there was something holding it It's the 3 inch main size and has been ground .010. |

A dab of black silicone in each of those half round dimples and half a day of drying time should do the job.

I actually greased the OD of the seal so it would slide into the grove nicely and wouldn't bind when the cap was installed. Put a dab of silicone on the parting line.
I figure if there is enough friction at the crank/seal interface to spin the seal in the block/cap ... then I have much larger problems to worry about. |
