Carpet Sill plate moldings wanted
Hi, looking for a pair of good used sill plate moldings for a '63. I believe 62 and 63 two-door cars, both coupe and convertible are the same.

Ames has the door sills. You will need to re-drill the holes for the mounting screws.

Thanks for the tip, I had those on another car and whenever I washed the car water seeps in from the bottom drain holes in both doors underneath the still plates and into the carpet!!

Although I made the Ames parts work, I found that I had to de-burr the heck out of them, as my shoes would get caught. John

Would have to check but seems like 68 GTO sill plates work and nobody knows.

I would prefer a set of original 1962 or 1963 sill plates.
The bottom drain holes in the doors dump water out right on the outer edge; the full length of both sill plates. The sill plates for the early 60s cars have a downturned edge running the length of the plate. This is to prevent water from getting into the car. Underneath the plate all along the long outer edge you put some caulking, again to prevent water entry. Mid and late '60s GM car still plates lack this down-turned edge. The car is close to being finished (after many years) and I only have about 6 or 7 items that I need to track down to finish it up. I had several parts cars and years ago + I located a car in a junkyard only one state away. I should have looked at those but I did get a lot of the folding top metal parts, and the trim sticks around the body opening, from the car in that yard; all in great condition. All of those parts are restored and on my car now.
