My buddy built a ford Mustang fox 306 cid. block, Pretty basic. That thing will run 7.20 at the 1/8. Drove it every where. There is other brands with smaller engines running faster than bbc.

I wasn't expecting huge results due to the hot weather compared to the last outing..I will check the DA of both days to see what it was...Ran five times..1st pass 11.23/121.28 1.6469 60ft,2nd pass 11.21/121.52/1.6457 60ft,3rd pass 11.2179/121.97/1.6810 60ft,4th pass 11.2052/122.23/1.6782 60ft,5th pass smoked the tires track got dirty from some trucks 11.566/121.92/1.8879 60ft

Beat the old best by quite a margin in warmer weather..the tailpipes were a restriction.

Are you running just the dumps after the muffler?

Do you think the gain was from less restriction or from the shorter pipe length of the system tuning to a higher rpm and helping the top end charge? Those Ultraflows look like a straight pipe to the motor so maybe tailpipe length affects the torque curve somewhat.

Related ?

"As far as power is concerned, tail pipe length after the mufflers has no measurable effect on the power if a large change in cross section is present up stream (toward the motor) of the tail pipe. An open-type muffler, or a resonator box, provides this cross-sectional change. The tail pipe length exiting most glass pack installations is also of little consequence if a resonator box is used, but is of significant influence if not."

I gotta say Pontiac is unique in that it doesn't take "race parts" to go "fast". Show me a Ferd or Chebby guy going low 11's with 3 speed Autos, 3000 stall converters, 240ish duration and .600ish lift HR cams, and friggin 3.08 gears in 3800-4000 lbs street machines!

And doing this with pump gas while not overheating in traffic, hard to beat a well built Pontiac! Plus we actually work harder on our stuff to squeeze more performance and reliability than your average Chebby guy.
