I can think of one case where I am tending bar for the grandchild of someone I use to serve when they were 19.

Came here to say this.

We'll have to change his handle to "OMG" (Old Man Gifford).

when the 17 year old boy behind the counter is looking out the window, at the hideaway headlight grille of your perfectly restored 69 GTO, and says gee mister that is a really cool car, GTO, who makes that?????

This just happened:

You write yourself a note so you'll remember....

and then lose the note.

You know that you are getting old when you fart and throw out your back at the same time.

You know you are old when the doctor asks for a stool sample, blood sample, urine sample and semen sample ..... so you just give him a pair of your underwear

Please don't. I'm doing my darndest to not act my age (the off-road kart is a toy I built for myself last winter). Besides, I won't even be 76 until Norwalk this year- August 4th.

I am only 48 and the pic of your cart sent my heart fluttering and my back into spasms. I love carts and used to run shifter carts when I was younger but taking one off road would kill me. I get beat up just riding in my buddies souped up Honda Odyssey. I was complaining to my 83 year old father about how much gray has grown into my hair and beard and he offered his words of wisdom, when it turns gray you can still dye it but when it falls out your out of luck you jerk. Forgot to mention Dad has pretty bad male pattern baldness.

I thought life slowed down when you got older. After the kids grew up and moved out, I expected to have more time. It's been just the opposite, I seem to have no time any more. I know a lot of it is due to my role at work changing and having to spend more time doing stuff around the house that my sons did.

How about you guys that are late 50s/early 60s and working. Do you find you have more free time or less free time now?

You start worrying about speed rating of your tires on your Pontiac! I'll sleep in tomorrow! 6.30.

If it makes you feel any better: I think "Old Man Taylor" said he has been OMT since he was in his 30's or 40's or something like that.

Seems to me like "less".

I think my circle of influence has expanded such that now all my kids/kid's spouses/grandkids/in-laws problems become my problems. I spend most of my time fixing other people's stuff instead of playing with my stuff.

(My wife's problems have always been my problems).

I was thinking yesterday if I will get to hear the next round of the 17 year locust. I'll be 68 in October.

Less. Spending too much time fixing stuff that breaks, mine and my kids. Trying to get the house fixed up to sell in 8 years or so and it's a major time suck.
