Default Hemmings '69 1:18 GTO Die Cast

Hemmings and a company called Auto World have released and new '69 GTO die cast in 1:18 scale....and it has a Buick sticker on the RA breather...I guess they really ARE correct!

How can such a thorough automotive entity like Hemmings miss that sticker??? Disappointing.

They probably saw the red sticker on a car and assumed it was correct .

I once saw a car in the concourse judging at a national event with that type sticker.

Not that hard to believe. These are just the same ol' cheap Taiwanese 1/18 scale die-casts, repackaged under various brand names. They believe younger people will buy them as gifts for dad's and granddads because the brand name is familiar (Meguiar's, Barrett-Jackson, etc). It costs virtually nothing for these die-cast manufacturers to change a couple things (like tires) and resell the same model over and over again.

This 1969 GTO is just the old ERTL die-cast from 20 years ago, but with hideaway headlights. Same giant dogleg hood hinges, same terrible Rally II wheels, same chunky hood scoops, same horrendous interior detail, same bent side view mirror.

Biggest difference is that ERTL die-casts used to cost $19.95, now they're $89.95, and nothing has improved or changed in quality.

I saw this on Hemmings a few days ago and didn't look very close. Had thoughts of buying one since I own a gold on gold 69, not anymore! The air cleaner sticker was the first deal breaker. More brown than gold interior, deal breaker, and the price? No way I'm out on this one!

Probably be better off buying the old Monogram kit and painting it the way you want it.
