I don't use throttle stops, short shift, or let out to run consistent.

That's the beauty of bracket racing.
If you have to 'let off' you didn't dial your car right.
(you beat yourself)

Nothing in rules says you can't dial faster than you can go.
(no worry of breaking out, just balls to the wall and hope you treed them)

There's a break out rule in Index racing, right?

I did enter a 7.0 index race several years ago and went a few rounds. My car runs right at 7.0 on a good run, so I figured I'd give it a go. I ended up getting eliminated by a raggedy back halved, big tired, fiberglass frontend Nova that ran 7.02 (I went 7.08). I'm sure he must have been so proud to beat a car I drove to the track with sticker head-lighted race car.

Likewise, I "beat" a Mustang in the 2nd round because he broke-out and went 6.98. Boy I tell ya, I still haven't stopped bragging about "beating" a car that had me by about a car length.

Bottom line - it isn't for me, and a whole lot of other people. There's a reason why S/O, Radial vs World, 10.5 class races, Pro-Mods, etc. are so popular now. They bring the big crowds because it is exciting to do and watch.

Bracket racing is what keeps the tracks open though, and it's not going anywhere. I just don't have to like it.
I can respect that. If you don't like it, you don't like it.

Any index racing is BRACKET RACING! Just saying!
Everyone can't afford to run the heads up classes, if that's all that was out there amateur racing would DIE!

Seriously that's your comeback! So you're saying it's safer to run a 1,000-2,500 hp car on pavement that is slick as apposed to pavement that is not slick. Real flippen intelligent!

And the popularity of Street Outlaws makes the point crystal clear, that you race the track, and the guy in the other lane, except for crossing over the centerline DQ, whoever gets to the finish line first wins.

This is why they have people packing any events that they participate in.

The pro flashlight start, eliminates the Christmas tree and all the other timing theatrics. Back to the roots like waving the flag at the start.

Nice part about oval track racing is that if someone jumps the start they throw the yellow, and do it again until they get it right, or after 2 jumps the front row is replaced by the 3rd and 4th place cars, and 1st and 2nd place cars go back 1 row.

The arguing about track prep with the street outlaw guys.

They do use traction compound/pimp juice so they aren't without any type of traction enhancing whatsoever, just not in the entire 1/8th mile.

Getting a 1000-2500 HP car down a concrete track isn't easy to be sure. It's like trying to get a TF/FC or a TF/D down a prepped track where the driver and the electronics progression don't overpower the racing surface. Just happens at a lower HP without stickum on the track.

So instead of being glued to the track, the driver input is much more relevant. Is it more dangerous? It sure is, but I believe that's what they, as well as their fans enjoy about it.

Ask chief about that power management?

What I am saying is weather there on a prepped track or not, there is crashes.
You run you car all out and it runs a number. It's a safe number for you and your car.
Grudge guys have more power than they know what to do with, so they push it until they find what the road/ track they are on can handle. They will crash no matter what do to them always being able to push the envelope.
THEY ARE NOT BRACKET RACERS. If a track or road can hold them they can go faster. There limit is the hook.
So my intelligent point which you can not seem to grasp with your intelligence is: If you are a grudge racer crashes will happen no matter what, your foolish statement was "look at the street racer running on an unprepped road that's what happens." GRUDGE CARS WILL CRASH ANYWHERE BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO GO FASTER AND HAVE THE POWER TO DO SO. Even the best (Stevie Fast) crashed his car. Best grudge racer around.
They know the risk but that's how they live. You bitching about them does not make you right, maybe there balls are bigger than yours or they have less brain power either way they know the risk and like the thrill.

Every week the TV screen shows them either dialing in or taking out power, depending upon circumstances and what hey think the racing surface will hold. The top fuel cars do the same thing to their cars.

Flat footing the car from start to finish line pretty much does away with driver input on the accelerator.

Sorry George, drag racing isn't my cup of tea, I tried it, and keeping the car going in a straight line from A to B is no where near as challenging as auto crossing, road racing or dirt track racing. The driver input is huge in comparison to drag racing. I believe the spectators enjoy the show on a closed circuit track more than a dragstrip too.

Many drag strips in the US have included other forms of motorsports to keep afloat financially. That should speak volumes about racing and those that watch it as well as participate in it.

Beechbend has an amusement park to supplement their racecourse.....

Looking at the odds on numbers I see that the even with the small numbers of guys/girls on the show, most have crashed or come real close, while the odds are a similar number of regular track racers haven't.
So, what's the underlying cause? Too much power for the driver, road and/or track's ability to handle in the given situation.
Bump in road, overpowered road, lost traction and control, hit the curb, mechanical failure, lack of experience?
I don't get a thrill seeing anyone crash, get hurt, lose a car and tens of thousands of dollars, I actually get a sickening feeling when it happens.

Go back to a few years ago when we hashed this out when the show first started, we all knew it was coming and said so.
Personally I think the show would be just as good at small local tracks, it's not the danger of racing the road that makes the show, it's the people, the cars and back stories.
It's not even illegal street racing, it's a made for TV show. Putting it on at small local strips would bring in lots of people and infuse the small strips with much needed cash.
I saw on one of the blurbs that the show has a few hundred spectators for each race night, I guess you just don't see them, put this on at the local track and see how many show up.

They've already done it, and it's called no prep racing, the places are packed.

If all the SO guys are all there then why bother with the BS street race? It adds nothing to the show.

Street outlaws spawned the no prep track drag racing, not the other way around.

They, the Street Outlaws guys get paid well to show up at a no prep race at a dragstrip.

The show is a cash cow for Discovery, ever notice how many car companies are buying commercials on the show. For the life of me I can't see why toyota and VW are buying time on Street Outlaws, but they are.

They aren't buying commercials on televised NHRA racing.

I saw a plug for NHRA and against street racing by Justin the other day.
Guess he made a deal with them.

He never from day one condoned street racing, says so at the beginning of the show each week.

Street Outlaws has renewed interest in drag racing, so why wouldn't NHRA get on the bandwagon? This show may save a bunch of dragstrips, at the very least make them more profitable.

Days of Thunder, no matter how unrealistic it was, pumped bunches of fans towards oval track racing, all forms of oval track racing, dirt and asphalt. This is drag racings, Days of Thunder.

They wouldn't be able to film SO at an open track atmosphere and pulling in all the fans because Facebook would be lit up with results and vids before the cars hit the shutdown area... It is a closed set albeit with quite a few people but they are not allowed to film or discuss the races in any medium before the show airing...

Having said that a little Birdie told me Kye doesn't own Chief anymore

BTW - our little community has their own list now and I have been invited for the next "Shark Tank"...

Yeah, I noticed there's a severe time lag between shooting and showing and seems to have gotten worse since the New Orleans show was added.

Good luck on the Shark Tank, hope your car doesn't end up in "The Tank" with the others.

You get similar equipment and weights and guess what the Chief looks a lot better vs the guys in Kye's crew.
