There is a Ton of info on Ernie's engine!
I think some people are getting the wrong impression of Him and Me and Others,
Ernie is a very humble nice guy! He never claimed he was the fastest or the best all he wants to do is reach his goals and i am glad he is willing to share his Results with us!
I am happy he allowed me to port an intake manifold for him to test!
R&D isn't cheap!
I think its pretty neat that a street car can cruise down the highway at a reasonable rpm, pull off at the track, almost run 10's with many parts and Pieces that "Don't Work" then cruise home like nothing happened! I like Sleepers!
I couldn't afford other people building my motors i learned how to do it myself, But i still couldn't afford things like Gear Vendors OD or a 4L80E conversion or my dream a Built 5-6 speed manual, So i was stuck with TH400's and Tall Gears
Luckily i Build Pontiacs! One of the Few Domestic V8's Capable of doing what Ernie's Car is Doing!
Is he claiming he is the fastest? The Best? Nope! But he is Doing a Damn Good Job of Hauling Azz with the Combo he has!
Thanks Ernie!

Thanks for the kind words ..its all about testing and tuning and sharing.A local at the track asked me last outing what I've done over the years as far as tuning. He remembers the other car running low 12's...as we were chatting another guy looked over puzzled and asked how the hell have you dropped 1 second off without touching the basic combo...So I then told him step by step everything that was a positive gain on the car over the last 6 or 7 years...The gains have always been one change at a time at the track....

Hey ta man - there's 23 pages in this thread so please forgive me if this has been covered, but I'm curious what different intakes you've tried.

Obviously the T-II is working great for you. Have you tried any other single plane intakes? Seems like a lot of people would have tried a modified/ported RPM, have you been down that road too?

I'm blown away by the performance you're getting with those 3.08s. Gives me hope that I can do something similar with 3.23s and a slightly smaller engine.

When I get the 455 SD ported Stump puller in my 81 with 3.08s we'll see if I am even anywhere close to this.

What gear did you have when you did 10.99 with the UD flat tappet?

The old faithful hyd roller has 9 degrees more duration @.200 - HUGE benefit.

I started just with a torker 2 no spacer on the old car because of hood cleanance issues with the shaker.I set up a modified shaker and air cleaner and used a one inch open spacer picked up about 2 tenths and 2 mph.I also tried a 4 hole spacer but it never ran as quick as the open. With the new car I started with the same spacer but could use a good 14 inch by 4 inch filter..was running basically the same even with less gearing with the new car.I later swapped the one inch open spacer to a Wilson 4 hole tapered spacer.which picked up the 60fts slightly and added maybe .5mph and picked up half a tenth.I also started using a Spectre cowl air cleaner setup with a 4 inch filter drawing only outside air which also picked up mph slightly.Last year I experimented with a rpm intake...it didn't work out well..lost 60 ft time which was surprising and was way off on the mph..I quickly swapped the torker 2 setup back on .This spring I swapped the current Torker 2 on that Derek ported and picked up a solid tenth and mph...

No Problem Man! You make us look good lol!
I have done a few RPM Intakes that Work Very Well but they can make it Much Harder to hook!
Plus i like to see a 1" open spacer on top of the rpm, you lose 10hp down low but it adds 10hp past 4500
I made 568hp at 5800 and 588tq at 4600 with 320 e-heads 10.15:1 comp, OF with 1.65's on the intake,Ported RPM intake, with a Ported T2 i would have been at or near 585-590hp and 585-595tq

Have you ever thought about trying a Holley Street Dominator?

I think I'm pretty settled on this intake for now..it has countless hours of work done to it and flows very well while retaining small port size.I'd have to use a Street Dominator with equal work done to it...it would be a good test..

When I dynoed my 78's pump gas 455 we swapped my welded and heavily massaged by me Torker II for Steve Coombs SD modified Holley intake and it was identical with the 850 Holley. For now the 78 still has the 4.10s form the 400 in it years ago. 3.42s to go back in this year. It also still has the 1.8 ratio Crowers on the intakes.

"New" 455 that is going in the 81 with it's 3.08s 0.060 455 I bought with some ported 6Xs. I had some extra E heads I'd bought here and after flowing both the E heads barely touched outflowed then and were way easier to hoist on the flow bench! Sent them to Dave to just go 310 but previous person raised the port a little too much -although little else done so Dave wanted to use the 320 program. Had him do an EFI Torker II also-although it needed a little weld added as did my old extra T2 non EFI(which flows a hair better than Dave's. Dish Ross with a custom CH as block had been decked a hair too much from a head gasket failure.SCAT rods Pontiac crank. Stump puller I picked up form a member here in Houston stepping up to OF. Canton GTO pan that is a hair deeper I had sump extended to match F body pan-even with front crossmember. Headers wil be chosen after dynoed-Have some Tribal Tubes Tri Ys, Hedman step 1 3/4-1 7/8 and Hooker 2".Shaker 455 tuned HP 1000(built from extra Holley parts. kind of an extra parts motor and since the kids are gonetheir high school car) and only a little 400 in it I want a little more go power-has new Global West parts on it also.

The HSD intake Skip borrowed from me is nice piece. I have two Holley Street Dominator intakes modified by Dave Bischopp. One uses my HP950 carb, the other has the carb flange modified for a 1050 Dominator carb. Both have port exit openings about 2.300" tall and use a SCE #128103 intake gasket that is about 2.320" tall. After the port work there is about 0.125" material above the ports for gasket seal.

The 'regular' HSD intake with my HP950 carb and a 1/2" open spacer made 589.4 hp at about 5700 rpm on the dyno, this was on a previous pump gas 4.210 stroke 462cid street engine. With the same engine & carb my Victor intake with 1/2" carb spacer made 600.9 hp at 6000 rpm.

As Skip mentioned his "high port" modified Torker II and my HSD intake dyno'd identical on his 550 HP pump gas motor.

.
