What are you guys using for your 61-62 4 cylinder cars running an alternator? Ive got a universal tractor supply generator to alt conversion but it is butt ugly, going to make a new one and looking for some ideas.

I am keeping my 4 cylinder Tempest stock with the generator.
But I did change the generator to an alternator on my Tempest with a V-8. I used the back half of the generator mount on a 61 389. I machined off the excess metal that was in the road of the alternator. I also had to machine off some of the mount face to get the belts to align. Do some careful measurements with the generator in place, then take the mounts apart, and take measurements for each half, plus measurements of the alternator. With some careful grinding you may be able to use the generator mount. Here are pictures of the 389 with a generator. The chrome arm is an aftermarket Chevy arm from Jeg's.

Get an alternator mount set off of a 63 4 cyl car. Ask around. They are out there.

Keith beat me to it. Use the '63 alternator mounts.
