Default Alternator output question ???

Alternator is putting out 12.8v at idle. No issues with the battery or starting the car. This just seems low to me. I could probably replace it with a 1 wire alternator and it would look pretty much stock and put out 14.2v at idle. This 1.4v would really pick up the AC fan, brighter lamps fore and aft, stronger ignition, horn louder etc.

Would just changing my voltage regulator bring it up to 14.2v or so ???

Or am I just creating a problem where one does not exist ???

Thank you, Larry

You can increase voltage by removing the cover on the voltage regulator and turning the allen headed screw, can't remember if it's clockwise or counter clockwise, you'll figure it out quick with a voltmeter.

Worked like a charm. Found the adjusting screw, gave it a 1/4 turn clockwise and voltage went from 12.8v to 13.5v.

Don't want to abuse this new found power I have now so I will monitor it and find the sweet spot.

Thank you for the reply, Larry.
