Need way more info here!
Stock Crank that's been cut? Block line honed? What brand and part number bearings? If you lay in the rear main and number 1 main with caps on them does the crank spin? How do the thrust bearings themselves fit on the Crank, and if so what side clearance do you have with them out of the block. On used recut factory Cranks I have never had less then .006"

You can pull 1 main cap at a time to reveal WHEN endplay is revealed. starting with #4 Thrust cap of couse.
Of course; Visual verify #4 clearance at #4 saddle. |

Did you check it before putting a rope style rear seal in?
After checking I'd install the rear main seal and couldn't get it to move easily fore and aft.

It helps to install the thrust cap snug the bolts to seat the bearings loosen the bolts and than move the crank for/aft with a large screw driver or such to line up the thrust bearing halves. Tighten the caps and check end play.

Check the radius on the crank to see if it is interfering with the bearing. If that checks out put on number one and back main cap like Steve said and see what the end play is with out the seal in. If that is good put the rest on with out the thrust. If its still good check the thrust and sand until you get the end play you want. I like it around 6 to 7 thousandths,,,
