62 Catalina Side Trim ???
A friend of mine purchased an original 42,000 mile Catalina 2drht last month. It is Cameo Ivory with red interior. An absolute survivor car in great condition with original paint, interior, etc. What ponders me is the insert on the side trim is an anodized red color. I have only seen the trim insert in white on other 62s. Is this factory original??? If so, is it rare??? What's the story, does anybody know??? It sure does look original to the car.

Someone did that. You see '61 Venturas and '62 Cats with odd colored coves too which someone did.

The flippers look home-done.
I have seen one other white 62 Cat with a the side trim trim insert red (vs. white). If he's a POCI member, maybe he could post in the INFO Wanted section... |

Thanks guys. I've seen the coves painted another color and knew that was not factory. This car looks to be such a virgin it got me wondering about the red side trim insert. The Chevrolet Impala had various colors on side trim. I thought maybe this was something rare Pontiac may have done.

It may have been something an individual dealer did as part of a local promotion, but my guess is it was the work of some previous owner.
