Default Tilt column question

I have a second gen Firebird tilt column. Does anyone know if it can it be adapted to a 69-72 A-body? Thanks.

not really..theres problems..length is one...i mean you can do anything you are determined to do..how much work it takes is the question..theres easier swaps

your better off looking for a 73 up a/g-body they adapt well and are cheap

Thanks Mark! I have an early gen 2 tilit column hanging in the garage and a GTO project car that would be a nice place to put it if it was pretty easy to do. I should see if I can trade it for a 69-72 A/G-body tilit column.

What is the relative value of the gen 2 tilt vs 69-72 A-body tilt? Mine is tight and has 2 ignition keys with it.

69 has some unique things about it like the switch a couple other oddities that are minor but easily addressed

i'm not sure anymore the prices are all over the place..but a solid knuckle with keys has to be at a minimum of $300..and ..maybe twice that if its mint they get 500 for rebuilt..so its all perspective...and who needs it,,and the a body bring 100-200 more

i did a conversion many years ago..back when i had lots of time and no money..

i laid the a body and the f body on the bench and did what ever it took to make them the right configuration...i took the intermediat shaft and freed it up..so it slid to make up some length issues..it wasnt that bad..but i felt i killed a good fbody tilt...it took a few hrs..but been so long...i know i worked it over..just cant remember the details

That is more work than I care to get into. I'll keep an eye out for a decent A-body column and trade or sell the one I have. Thanks.

73-75 are all metal

76-77 have the plastic lower sleeve below the shift collar
