white headliner in '63 Catalina with red interior?
At Norwalk this year there was a '63 Catalina 2 drHT car that appeared to me to be all original.
It was Grenadier Red with a standard red interior, red carpet, but had a white headliner and sun visors. It seems to me the headliner and sun visors should have been red too. Does anyone know if the white headliner is correct for that car or if they made them both ways? I am working on pretty much the same car but it has the ventura interior rather than standard and it came with a red headliner and sun visors. I replaced the headliner, or tried to the upholsterer ruined it when they tried to install it, so I am having to get another one. This car I'm asking about is a neat car and I am not criticizing the car (I wish it was mine) I am just wondering if the headliner is correct. |

my 63 Ventura has the red headliner and visors which now need to redone. Once upon a time when I was working with the oracle of all interiors to get a new tri-tone, he told me that white was the only color available for the headliner\visors in 63. Any other color was special ordered.

61 Ventura with original interior. White car, red/maroon/white seats but white headliner and visors. My guess would be that was the non special order way.

Thanks for the responses. I just clicked around on the internet looking at '63 headliners and on my computer, and I have a bunch of pictures of early 60s big Pontiacs and SD cars in particular, and almost all had white headliners regardless of body color. Amazing that I've never noticed that!

I had a '62 (go figure) GP built in Pontiac with red interior and white headliner and visors.
Are yours the "Star" pattern or the small-hole pattern? ...mine was the "star" pattern, FWIW. |
