Triple Black 70 vert Judge!
Thought you guys might be interested in this. Took a 3300 mile roundabout and in nowhere South Dakota I saw a sign for a car museum. So I stop to check it out, this is a private museum owned by David Gessler (I think that’s right). Anyway it advertised 250 cars, so I pull in this place and thought this is going to be a bust. Placed look run down and didn’t look like it would hold 50 cars. I walked in and the cars were dusty, parked on a gravel floor. I went around the corner and almost peed myself when I saw this vert Judge setting there. It was really dusty looked like it hadn’t been moved for years. Look all original unmolested triple black auto Judge. There were rows of building behind the main building and there were at least 250 cars there. Most model A's and stuff like that. I took some pics of the muscle cars. Maybe some of you have been there??

CLONE? Damn I thought I stumbled onto one. Couldnt get close enough to it to really check it out. It had the correct ram air hood, glove box emblem looked correct. Why would someone clone a car to put it in a museum? How do you know its a clone? I started to cross the rope and get the VIN wished I would have now.

I checked the vin, it is a 71 lemans conv, car still has the all 71 interior, was not even close to a good clone, I asked him about it and he just changed the subject, I think the neatest cars he has are all stored in the buildings with the dirt floors, superbird, big block chevelles, and a bunch of late 20's early 30's, the place is still well worth the $9 entry fee

I'd pay $9.00 just to see the neon Pontiac sign lit. Cool place.

Don't forget your coupon!
According to their web site they do advertise it as a 1970 GTO "Judge Clone" Conv. The 1964 GTO shows up as 1964 GTO Convertible so apparently not a clone for that one.

Really off topic but being were talking about oddities. I have been thinking about this for a couple years now. After I finish my 69 stang and 71 GTX I think I'm going to do this........ What ya think?

when I was in high school there was a guy in my home town with a 70 lemans- 69 doors, fenders, valance, nose, hood and all, guy tried to tell me that is how it came from the factory, long story short I ended up with the car about 8 years later and junked it out, car was originally blue and under the paint on the 69 parts you could find green everywhere, so much for the theory of from the factory!

what kills me it he has a 71 lemans clone conv worth about $10k on a good day right now, he has a true superbird, 64 gto conv, and numerous other cars worth alot more sitting on a white rock floor, at least it is not dirt anymore it used to be, there is about 10 other buildings with very expensive old cars sitting on dirt floors and none of the building are insulated except for where the clone conv is and a few other cars that are there, has a really nice 69 general lee charger there from the original movie, and elvis presleys motorcycle with the registration from when elvis owned it

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was there today. Friendly folks--but the vert is severely misrepresented.
Claiming 1 of 168 judge convertibles built? I was skeptical when I saw hood pins (who would pin such a rare car destined for a museum?). After seeing the interior, I glanced at the vin.... 237! Such a d-bag move! My car has a very neat history but is still not a real judge and I'm quick to point that out. Still kinda cool, though. They had pictures of the crew from Pawn Stars driving it to Sturgis a while back.

I've been through Dave's place a few times. Just plan on being there for greater than four hours. Tons of stuff! The GTO was there 10 years ago when I passed through but I never check the VIN.
Whatever your interest, there is plenty to look at!! |
