I need my new acquisition trucked across country to my door. This is my first time at this.....What do you folks do ??? Open carry or Enclosed ??? What are the horror story's ..what to avoid ?? PM Me with reputable carriers you have used. thanks for any input

I went cheap with a 69 T/A.Was put under another car without full pans.Leaking break fluid cost me a paint job.Since then I have just bit the bullet and use Reliable.Tom

GM uses Reliable to ship all of their show cars. They are top notch all the way.

I used Reliable (at GM's expense) when I relocated from Phoenix back to Michigan.

I'm not sure I'm using the right words but I wouldn't recommend one of those "brokers" with an open trailer. I had an interesting experience with one of those.

I wouldn't consider anything but enclosed transport. Also consider that most of these "shipping companies" are nothing more than a middleman that puts your request out for bid. You never know who will be hauling your car. Reliable may not be the cheapest bid, but they may be the best choice since the broker is the hauler.

When I had my car hauled from New Jersey to Wisconsin, I used one of the online websites that put your request out to several of these "transport companies" and I selected one that was in the middle of the price range. Apparently, the independent who bid on the job bid it too cheap, realized his mistake and backed out. The shipping company called me to let me know that they weren't able to honor my bid and was looking for another independent to haul my car. After almost 2 weeks of waiting, they finally got a bid for $600 more than the original quote, but guaranteed me a pickup and delivery time, so I accepted the deal. I will say that the driver that picked up the car was excellent to work with and stayed in continual contact with me. He also showed up with the car 2 days earlier than promised. He picked up the car at noon on a Friday and dropped it off at 9 am Sunday morning.

I've used [email protected] numerous times with only 1 recent issue. I've shipped from as far away as Merritt Island Florida & St. Marie's Idaho with excellent results and at half or less of what Reliable will charge.

The only issue I have had is a recent delivery from Oklahoma where my Formula got bumped and some paint lifted off of the front bumper cover. Roy put me directly in touch with the truck owner and monitored it through the whole process. I got three quotes for repairs/repaint, emailed them to him and he paid the HIGHEST one overnight with a check. Couldn't ask for better than that!

Get top load or enclosed so your car can be covered. I had bought a Malibu in Las Vegas in March. Had it shipped out and the car above it leaked trans fluid and now the trunk and hood need to be repainted. He tried to wash it off but you can tell and the vinyl top got it but it cleaned. Still fighting with their insurance company but that will be a lost cause. Everytime they ask for something I give it to them then they turn around and ask for something else. Stupid. Never again with Montway.

I've had two project cars transported on open multi-car rigs in the last year. West Coast to MN averaged $1300 each. Good experience both times but I would pick up any nice car myself or pay for a quality enclosed trailer service.
