Default Which show to do in '17

OK, here is my problem. For the past 6 years or so we have been doing the POCI convention. We have made a lot of friends across the country (and some international ones as well) but with the convention in Fort Worth TX this coming summer we have decided not to make the trip.
So here is the question I have for all of you.
We are thinking about doing Norwalk or the Trans Am Nationals.
Which one would be the best use of our time and love of the Pontiac hobby?
Being the owner of a first gen Firebird, the Trans Am Nats. seems almost automatic but being a lover of anything Pontiac makes Norwalk attractive.
I know that there is the Indian Uprising even closer to home but that weekend isn't available.
So please, give me your thoughts on both shows. I wish doing both was as option but not quite there yet.

24 yrs at Norwalk.Norwalk. Better bring a golf cart or rent one there is toomuch, and to large to see. Ames has free approx 10 passenger golf carts running Sat,Sun to haul you around. They are conveniently timed. It works but I've found renting a cart the quickest way around to see something, parts, car etc. Besides no hauling or maintenance.

Hands down, Norwalk is the biggest bang for a weekend spent. Huge car show, swap meet, manufacturers midway, drag racing, tons of people to talk to, terrific facility.

If you want to sit in a parking lot for 3 days getting sunburned and looking at 300 stationary show cars (many corporate powered) then the T/A nats are for you.

You want a 3 ring circus of live racing, show cars, and merchandising then Norwalk is where you should go.

Been to both many times and probably won't attend the T/A nats again, even though it's a 30 minute drive from my house. Norwalk is 3 hours away from my house. I intend to keep making Norwalk as long as I can, or as long as they are still having it.

I first attended in 1996 and haven't missed it yet, so 20 years now.

I forgot, 3 tracks running winged Sprint Cars within 30-40 minutes for MY night time entertainment too.

Thanks for all the input.
Any suggestions on where to stay, I'm sure that a lot of rooms are already gone.

Camp at the track, best bang for the buck. Because of the close proximity of Cedar Point amusement park the rooms are fairly expensive in and around the track. There are plenty of motels within 20 miles, but they are fairly pricey.

Hank

If you aren't aware - the feature car at the Iola Old Car Show just west of Green Bay is the Firebird/Camaro - as it is the 50th anniversary of the GM F body.

We will be there with my wife's '72 Camaro in the feature car exhibit and my '64 GTO in the Blue Ribbon exhibit.

Dates are July 6th - 8th.

Yup, I know about Iola, it's right in my back yard (one hour away). I am planning on being there with the Firebird but still looking for another "national" show to plan a weekend around and get away for a while.

Too bad about the Indian Uprising. This year's feature car is all F Bodys. We have a few surprises in the works that I can't talk about yet.
