That's a great pic of what most of these cars really looked like on day one. I bought my first '68 in '82 and it still had bias whitewalls and those same full wheel covers. Of course, they got changed right away for Rally IIs and RWLs.

If you want to go with that very stock hubcap whitewall look I suggest you stick with a GTO spec 3/8" white rather than the 5/8" or 3/4" whitewall seen on other less sporting Pontiacs in 68. See first pic of a GTO being delivered to its first owner)

The GTO had white walls as a no cost option but they were the same 3/8" like the standard redlines.

Another option instead of the deluxe hubcap would be the custom which had a bunch of round holes. They more fully covered the wheel as compared to the deluxe cap and had a futuristic look that went well with the very modern look of the 68 GTO. (Second pic, center caps were originally bright red).

Personally, I never liked those covers with the round holes in them.
Here is a pic of my first '68 the day I brought it home in '82. Unmolested except for the pushed in front bumper/hood, faded paint and that goofy door ding strip.
Wheel discs and tires got swapped for Rally IIs and white letters in short order. Bumper took a couple of months....Never did get the faded paint re-done. Unusual that it had headrests and a rally stripe.

Don't get me wrong, RII's and redlines are the nicest set up on 68-69 Goats (both mine are set up that way now and when new) but since variety is the spice of life and almost every GTO has them today it's nice to see different hubcaps and tires to reflect the truth that half of GTO's sold new were not "hot" cars with all the trick stuff but being bought with air conditioners and decor groups by Catalina and LeMans buyers who just liked the style or sporty image of a GTO.

Oh, don't get me wrong either, I agree on doing something a little different. The PMD poverty caps are even getting a little common now.

Default Hubcaps

I enjoy the simplicity that narrow whites and hubcaps put together on 60's performance cars. Maybe it's the combination of the innocence image and the real vintage power under the hood. Greg nice 68.

My car came from the factory with these wheel covers, and they are staying on it as long as I own the car. Click image for larger version

Default hubcaps

Here's my 69. Plain and simple in appearance with the hubcaps and whites.
(which need to be replaced) Any ideas on where I can get 3/8 whitewalls?

I'm not sure about radials, but Summit Racing has the Firestone in Bias Ply...your 69 GTO looks so cool with those hubcaps, I really like the look...seems everyone has Rally 2's nowadays https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cok-55260
