Default Missing holes for a-pillar stainless trim

I've got a '70 GTO convertible with an odd issue; I have the stainless trims that mount on the A-pillars, and I wanted to re-install them. The weird thing is both trims have three countersunk screw holes, but there's no holes on the pillars themselves. I was going to just drill three corresponding holes, but wondered if I'm just missing something. I took them off in the '80's so I have no recollection of how the trims or weatherstrips were mounted.

Hello Terry. I didn't even think of taking some pics......here they are. Once you've taken a look let me know if you have any ideas. Or did it come off the line just after 5pm on a Friday.

Isn't the top hole near the header panel one of them? The little hole in the vinyl. Do you have the stainless oriented correctly? I might have pics at home showing this I can post later.

No, that's just a damage hole in the vinyl header cover. The top hole in the stainless trim is about 2" below that, and the trim pieces will only go on one way.

Still looking for my photos. I think that you need to install the a-piller foam piece in there first that is for the front of the side window. I'll post some pics later tonight.

Please don't spend much time looking for the pics. I just wondered if there was someone out there who had come across the same problem.
