Ford used the term "Drag Pack", not Track Pack.

What you're referring to is the "Track Pack" and "Super Track Pack" for 4-speeds and "Performance Axle Package" and "Super Performance Axle Package" for automatics.

Seems the Mopar thing was explained already, but seeing it visually may help as well.

Regarding Ford's Drag Pack ("Pak" for Mercury in some literature), it was available on 428 and 429 Cobra Jets only. Included was 3.91 gears, oil cooler, and a number of special HD items. A CJ with the Drag Pack = Super Cobra Jet.

The Super Drag Pack was the same thing but with 4.30 gears and, in some instances, a Detroit Locker rear.

Boss 302 Mustangs and Cougars also were available with the Super Drag Pack, but I think it was only 4.30 gears, oil cooler, and not much else (in comparison to conventional SCJs).

Ok Diego, what do they call a 429 Super Cobra Jet with a Special Holley Vacuum Tri-Power set-up like this one: http://www.ford6v.com/ford6vtech/ford6vtech.htm

"I run a set on my Ford 429 6V intake. They work exceptionally well. These carburetors were returned to their un-sleeved size of 1355cfm total for all three. Tom Vaught also indicated "that an engineer at Ford at one time had two complete sets of sleeved carbs for a 429SCJ 71 Mustang, one set on the car and a spare set, so there are more out out there" besides Eric's single carb. The sleeved carbs ran very well on the 429 Mustang."

Well, adding carbs after the fact doesn't change the pedigree of a vehicle, so what do I think? "Neat, but not factory."

Can't remember, but I think the stock CJ came with a Rochester and the SCJ came with a Holley?

The carbs and intakes were Ford Engineering/Holley Prototype carbs and manifolds.
So not quite the same as buying from the aftermarket. Holley was an OEM supplier for all of the Holley stuff be it Ford GM or Chrysler.

I own the original Dyno carbs for the 440 "Six Pack" Chrysler engines.

Which do you think are more valuable. 10 prototype sets of Ford 429 Super Cobra Jet carbs/manifolds or a run of the mill production 66 Tri-Ppower set-up? DOH!

That's a pretty cool piece of Mopar history you have there. I know a Mopar photographer who prob could write a nice piece on them. :-)

We have managed to turn this thread into a Ford & mopar discussion!

I would be surprised if there is any documentation calling out a "super drag pack" in Ford literature. Having owned a drag pack car ('70 1/2 Falcon) I'm pretty familiar with the specifics. The drag pack included an oil cooler, a 3.91:1 limited slip axle, and added solid lifters and Holley 780 carb to the CJ version of the engine creating an "SCJ". Additionally one could order the 4.30:1 Detroit locker rear on top of the drag pack as an option. Also one could order a ram air shaker option with or without the drag pack creating a CJ-R or SCJ-R! Confused yet?

Not in the least bit, one of my early bosses had a 71 429 SCJ with all of the options you describe for the Drag Pack built (with C6 trans and one of the very rare Ford late Holley "6 pack" type carb/manifold set-ups. He actually owned 2 complete set-ups but one did not work properly so I fixed the Holley carb issues on that set-up for him.
