Also, I see you have an HEI, not sure how its powered or if you have anything else connected to it. I was having fits with my FiTech, I quickly unhooked my tach, and the factory (+) key on wiring to the coil. Pretty sure that has a resistive wire. I hooked the coil (+) directly to the battery. It made a huge difference. The factory wiring should not be used to power the coil.

Drove my car through the N. Carolina mountains, it really helped my dial in dramatically. Worked on accel pump and manifold wetting. The car is running good. Smooth as glass. No bogs, hiccups or stumbles. Smooth linear acceleration...

Thats great Frankie. I think that once these EFI's are tuned and running as they should no-one would go back to a carb.....

Not bad, not bad at all! This week I changed the cranking fuel, and afterstart fuel, and got a cold start improvement, but I gotta mess with that some more. I'm also going to get more aggressive on the base timing setting; I think I'm way low at about 16 degrees.

I guess I spoke too soon....I took it out for what was probably going to be the last drive of the season and it just died. After some quick troubleshooting with help from two Iraqi guys who very kindly stopped to help, we found zero fuel pressure. They drove me home (about 8 miles) to pick up a spare fuel pump, then all the way back, where they proceeded to swap out the pump as I watched, and successfully got it running again. I was blown away by their "get it done" attitude. Nash, and you nameless friend, I can't thank you enough!!! As far as the pump goes, this is the third one, it's mounted well below the tank, and I think it's time for an in-tank pump, plus a different tank if need be. Three pumps in 4 or 5 months is totally unacceptable. I'm going to go back over this thread and see what pumps other guys are using.

I think if you read through enough EFI threads, no matter the make, the in line pumps are an issue. I know some have better luck that others. They also talk about having a dedicated ground to the battery for the fuel pump and a few other things to help out. In tank or fuel commander is the way to go.

It's why any time fueling comes up in this thread I state to go directly to a new tank with an in-tank pump. i have the tanks inc ego tank with their gpa4 module. It's quiet and has been flawless from the moment I fired it up.

Same for me; Tanks Inc. tank and Walbro pump...No issues.

Thanks Jason, I already went over your posts and figured I'd go that route. One question..."ego" tank? And are you using a regulator?

Agreed Frankie. Which Walbro pump? And did you get the Tanks Inc. sender? The annoying thing is that I just bought a new (stock) tank, but already used it.

He probably means EFI tank. You don't need an additional regulator, it's built into the throttle body.

I use the GPA 6 and the floatless sender.

For the majority of people and especially if you aren't doing any auto-x or anything like that, the retrofit kit will work just fine. If you go to the drag strip just make sure you've got a good half tank of fuel or so. As far as the pumps are concerned, the GPA-4 is your standard Walbro 255lph pump. This thing has been a performance mainstay for 20+ years at this point. It's pretty quiet, has OEM level quality, reliability and longevity and will supply enough fuel at the commanded 58psi to support a bit over 600hp at the crank. So, if you went with the Go EFI-4, or the meanstreet 400hp kit, it's the perfect pump for that setup as the throttle body will run out of injector before you run out of pump. If you went with one of the power adder systems good for 800-1200hp, the GPA 6 is the pump you want.

For the difference in price, I always like head room. I never like an iffy situation.

You mean go with a GPA-6? I know it's only about $60 more, but I really have no intention of trying to get 630hp out of my motor, and won't be drag racing it.
