It is L1 marimba red. I have never seen an original paint marimba red car (at least not in the last 20 years) but the color does look to my eye like other restored marimba red cars I have seen.

While Nyle and crew were attending to the body work I tore into the little 215 6 cylinder for analysis and potential overhaul. The bad news; granny did not change her oil often enough! The cam lobes were worn, and the cylinder walls had a pretty significant ring ridge, but the good news was the crank journals looked amazingly good....

Engine back together (bored .060" - yikes!, marine cam, Ross 9.25:1 pistons, stainless valves, etc) and back in the car, along with a THM2004r. I know the Pontiac faithful are expecting to see a 389, or at least a 326, but alas this little Tempest came with a 215-6 and that's what she'll stay for now. 4 speeds in the trans and a 3.55:1 axle will help.

Agree, the L1 Marimba Red car is a car not often seen or previously saved by most people. Tom V.

No, these are from "Langdon's Stovebolt". I don't think the chevy sixes ever had anything like a factory header, typically two log manifolds (int and exh) sandwiched together for carb heat.

sorry have not been on much lately....progress has been slow but steady. Just got the seats back from the upholstery shop. Repro covers are not available for a Tempest Convertible so I bought fabric from Original Auto Interiors, Columbus, MI (plain vinyl) and SMS, Canby, OR (embossed vinyl) and had an upholstery shop make new covers. Time consuming and expensive, but they turned out great.
