Plan for today...heading for Basic Body and Paint. Going to help Clark with the '71 LeMans. Hope to get some photos. Will post later...
As of yesterday, this is how she looked in the booth...Clark was putting the final thin coat of filler on her before we mask off and shoot the primer....YAY! Progress! One day closer to "Blu"

So that's what the left quarter is supposed to look like as bare metal! Lol

I've really enjoyed seeing all of the work you've been putting into her Kurt! She's lookin' great, and it makes me even more excited to tackle mine!

Subbed for updates!

Thanks AW!
It's all about others as far as I am concerned!...
Spent all day yesterday working on applying the final coat of filler on the left front fender and the rear deck shelf....
I also took the time to cut out and replace with a patch, rather than simply doing the easy thing of putting a coat of Duraglass on the passenger side door. This way I know it is done right!...
Hopefully today Clark will give me the thumbs up on the last coat issue and I will move on, but if not....I'll stay right where I am and finish the job right!...

I’m excited for you Kurt! I’ve enjoyed your build thread and really appreciated you documenting it here.
What color will you be shooting her with?

Oh Joe,
I am beyond excited! And thanks for all your kind words along the way. The color is 1989 Camaro Bright Blue Metallic #WA 9591....
I have had such a great time not only learning so much about the inner workings of the Body Shop Business, but to have someone take a retired 63 yr. man under his wing and teach him some of what he knows....is testament of just how Clark Gick performs his work...

Thanks Shiny and Greg!
I had an idea that I could do this before I started, but where I am now with this car is beyond my wildest dreams....to actually restore one from the ground up!
I appreciate both of your comments and watching through this whole experience...

Regards,
Kurt

This Girl has some serious lines! 💙 It was quite a "job" getting them all lined up, but with patience and a lot of time, she is put together, including the door glass and hood! Clark Gick came over and gave her the once over. He looked it over, smiled and said, "Very nicely done Kurt". That was the nicest thing he could have said! Thanks Clark!...
Had the time to inspect and re coat the wire looms for the tail lights....

Kurt,
That looks great.
How much of a pain-in-the-azz was it to actually remove the dash completely?

Kurt;
If you are looking for votes on what color to change the interior to, let me chime in and say the white would look awesome! The examples you have shown is( I believe) is called tuxedo ( white with black trim) and is , in my humble opinion, the cleanest, most eye catching combo.

I'm all in with you WC!
I have always loved the tuxedo look! I can only imagine just how pretty this Lemans will be with her new paint, new interior, some red accents including the red calipers peeking through the AR Torque Thrust D wheels wrapped in BFG Radial TA tires. Not to mention the sound of the 350 breathing through that Pypes Race Pro exhaust out the back with her GTO valance!
MAN....I'M EXCITED MORE NOW THAN EVER!!

My son used to work at NPD. He said they sold UPI often. Look decent.

Kurt,
Your car looks better than the internet example. That was a great choice!
