Interesting auction in the fact that you have to bid on a project car that you will be forced to have restored by the listing person.

How do you make an intelligent bid without knowing the actual quality of this person's work?

Looks like a great car (from the limited pics). Car is loaded as stated. Really goofy sales pitch. I'd prefer the car "as is" rather than restored by an unknown quantity...

I was amused by the statement "All original and I mean ALL ORIGINAL" after seeing the aftermarket windshield wiper blade holders and non 64 wheel covers. Looks like the right front hood corner is tweaked. I wonder if restoration would include an NOS left rear quarter panel or window screen and bondo to fix what appears to be a rust hole in the lower section?

Owner states that this is a Jay Leno quality car! LOL.........I would rather see it not restored, but preserved. Have only seen the tonneau cover in a dealer advertisement 30-40 years ago...never in real life. Super rare. Nice car, nice options. Clueless owner.

I live about 30 miles from st. johnsville n.y. I set him a message that I would like to see the gto. I have heard from him yet. if I can get to see the car i'll try to get some pictures. I have a friend jerry that works at an auto parts store near there. he knows what goes around that area when it comes to cars. i'll give him a call too. it's getting a lot of bids. wish me luck. thanks bob.

We all know that a concours restoration will be big $$$$'s, and the bidding is only up to $25,100.00.

exactly! for that reason alone, that auction is doomed (in value to the seller). how could you possibly predict the final outcome, quality of that EXACT restoration (not something they've done in the past), and how much you might price that at?? it's really an insane proposition by the seller. he should sell as is - period.

Not necessarily.

He very may well have the resources to do it, but knows that the cost will be more than the resale value of the car after completion.

He wants to make money, not own a very desirable car.
