I have had that happen to the originals, Especially ones that have been sitting unused for several years. I had an NOS bulb do it too. I was out about $100 because the seller would not guarantee it.

what makes them do it??? as for the ebay seller, I can see his point of view. considering it could be faulty wiring or just that its 40 years old. parts stores wont even guarantee electrical parts once they are out the door.

I finally got the correct upper oil dip-stick tube but it came without any plating on it. What should the correct finish be? Engine Blue? Who is the best source for that paint? I waited about 8 weeks for Year One to get me a quart and finally cancelled my order.

It was installed after the engine was painted. They were a zinc plating.

I am so excited! After a successful trip to Chicago (Rosemont) for MCACN, I am looking forward to driving my car from Atlanta to Chattanooga for Thanksgiving. I will be going to my Mom’s house where my signature photo was taken back in 1975, and plan to re-create that photo in the same spot on her driveway. My dad took that photo 42 years ago. Wish he was still here to see this car. I’ll post it up this weekend. Now, to find a wig that duplicates all the hair I had back in 75!

We are all looking for that same wig!! Love your car! Always loved fire coral bronze. My dad bought a 74 LeMans sport that color. There is a regatta blue 74 Formula 455 on eBay . It was originally yellow, I painted it blue. Wanted bronze, but Dupont did not have exact formula.

I saw that car on eBay - very cool car, and nicely done.

I noticed that it came from Thompson Pontiac in Cuyahoga Falls. Have you ever seen any info / documentation / dealership name plates, etc. from that dealer? It's where my '70 Formula was sold new. I thought it would be cool to have a dealer tag or license frame from there, if they used something like that, but I've never been able to find anything...

That's cool Keith. Used to go to Thompson Pontiac every Sunday in the 70,s-80's. My dad always stopped on the way to Grandma's Sunday dinner. It's funny I don't remember them having a license frame. Every car sold at the dealership got a decal in the back window. It was a red and white Indian teepee. It was in the back window of that formula but I may have scraped it off. I will see if I have pics.

Well, the trip to Chattanooga in the Formula for Thanksgiving was a blast! The car ran like a dream, and the 300 mile round-trip was uneventful. I️ cruised at 65 to 70 MPH with the driver side window down, a little heat on the floor vents and the radio off so I️ could just listen to the engine “moanin’ out its one-note song”.

Once there, I️ enjoyed Thanksgiving with my family and then recreated the photo taken by my Dad 42 years ago in 1975, when I️ had my first Formula 455. Hard to believe the difference in the place...well, in me as well. All those years have wrought changes in a lot of things. For example - My hair, like all the pine trees, is long gone! However the mountain stone retaining wall, and the clear glass globe of the landscape light over my left shoulder are still there.

42 years apart - two cars - same owner - same delivering dealership - parked in the same spot in my parents driveway.

Great picture BJ...that is a wonderful time lapse style image. I'm envious of you being able to drive your Formy in late November, while we put all our northern cars in their hibernation cocoons.
