Smile fish outa water?

Got my 67 Lemans out last month to go to town to top off with fresh gas at SHELL station. Young woman store clerk and another young woman were quite impressed with my car. I was feeling pretty good until one asked: "Is that a BARRACUDA?" (I graciously explained.)

On the other hand, it seems that many people at car shows readily know that my car is not a GTO but I still get many good compliments.

Cant tell you how many people mistake my Formula for a T/A or even worse a Camaro. Last year at the Elkhorn,WI car show Dennis Gage from My Classic car was there filming and made the same mistake ( he later said he was sorry ).

Still in the Pontiac line I always get that's a LeMans with a GTO frt end when they look at the column shift and bench seat.

Seems this has always been the case. Have gotten "nice Camaro" compliments ever since I bought my Formula back in '85.

Even had some guy ask (while looking right at the engine) if it had a "440 six-pack." He was obviously quite drunk though so I would have figured he'd know a six-pack when he saw it.

Not a big deal, just a bit silly IMO. If I don't know what a Prewar car is (I actually do know how to identify a lot of the '30s and '40s cars, but not the '00s, '10s, and '20s models), I will ask the person instead of "assuming" it is a certain car. I know some guys with prewar cars and almost all of them have someone "assume" it is a Ford if it is a smaller car, and it is a Packard if it is a bigger or more luxurious car.

That is a beautiful '66 Tempest Custom. Any interior shots?
