Looking for opinions on good set of header gaskets for eheads round port w 2" headers.
Butler recommends spm, but can't find any info on them.
Thanks

I tried about every type with no luck. Started using High Temp Copper RTV. Bead on the header flange, let sit until it starts to skim then install and snug bolts. Let sit over night and tighten fully next day. Never had an issue after that.

I have had good lick with plain old Mr. Gasket paper types. The Felpro with metal in them rust some here in the humidity.

Same thing here. Always used the Mr.Gaskets without sealant and never had an issues.
Take that back in 15 years running Eheads, I had one gasket blow out on me, and that was last year in the burnout box in a finals....It sucked because when it hasn't happened to you in ages, your not totally sure thats the problem, so I just staged and hoped the other guy goes red, he didn't.

I believe it is SCE that makes a copper with a sealing bead it is 1.88 so make a little jig and run a 2 in hole saw thru the pot holes

Not sure if they are available but multi layer steel would be best. I've reused header gaskets 3 times on my LS GTO with no issues. I'm not sure if Cometic offers them or not.

Flatout Gaskets made a copper gasket for my Maddog headers years ago for E-Heads. Possible number was 7276C ? 847-837-9200, I would verify shape and size.

With the Felpros steel sandwich, my RAIV iron heads and regular steel header bolts some I could barely get out and the seal was not any better than the Mr. Gaskets.

^^^^^ this!!!!!

Works great, it's cheap, found at almost any parts store, one size fits all.

Installed D port Hooker headers on 76 T/A with red high temp in 1988 and they still haven't leaked, 29 years without a leak.

I too have been doing the hi-temp sealer since the late 80's. Same method Mike Davis mentioned. Never an issue.
Recently pulled a header on Debs car to fix the starter and address some wire routing I'd been putting off for some time.
13 years and no signs of any leakage. I think the other side may outlast the header.

BTW I've never had to retighten header bolts after initial torque down when it cured overnight. On the header I pulled you could feel the sealer was in there trying to hang on. No rust or corrosion to be found.

Copper is O2 sensor safe, red isnt, but both seal great. I've heard ultra works but havent tried it.

Sealer for me too. I use the Ultra Gray. Not too noticeable if a little squeezes out. Blends in nice with aluminum heads and silver headers.

Same here. Use red high temp sealer. Never a leak.
