This looks beyond reusable as 2/3rds of the splines appears to be rubbed smooth. But as always I would like to defur as final decisions to those more knowledgeable than myself.

I'd say don't take a chance with your steering, It'll probably be ok, but.............for the $, a new one is in order.

I wonder what cause the wear in the first place.

The gear box was leaking a good bit. Thats what promoted this project all the rag joints I have found have been over 100 bucks does that sound right

None of the splines are missing, it's made that way.

Note the flat opposite the splines.

It just needs cleaning, there's nothing wrong with it.

Ditto. Think about it, how can they be worn smooth? Unless they are slipping, then you would not be able to steer the car, big time dangerous. How could "some" be worn and not all? Clean it up with a water based cleaner, not solvent base. rubber and petroleum dont mix.

For $30.00 & definitely a safety concern with the age of a 50 years old part , replace it now or replace it after it breaks you will have more to fix than just that .
