With some sticky tires should be a fun track car.

I got the subframe connectors in,the Konis came yesterday, getting ready to order tires and wheels, need to get a shoulder belt system in it.Hope the 8.2 does not break.Joe said my hemi NASCAR holley with lemans bowls made as much HP as his dyno carbs.Doubt I will get my chit together before it gets too hot to go to Fontana road course.Tom

I would sweep the camshaft position and find the sweet spot that the engine likes vs what people assume as the parts have never really been tested on a basic #48 head with no porting that if lucky might go 205 cfm. Stock RA-IV would be 220 assuming 25" of head testing pressure on the flow bench.

this is the last pull,Joe backed it 3 degrees(one crank keyway)Lowered the pumping 6-7 lb.He started the pulls at 36 and kept retarding till he ended with 31 degrees with no loss of power?Joe said we left a lot of HP on the table with castiron exhaust,no spacer on the HSD intake and no 1.65 rockers. It liked my 850 NASCAR Vac sec Holley.

All I know about road racing is that I love to watch it. So I'm wondering what you use for braking. I'd imagine the stock system wont hold up on the track.

Power curve looks nice, flat down low and holds on pretty good up top too. |

Those are some nice numbers for stock heads and manifolds.
Just wondering what it might do with some 290cfm KREs. The exhaust would be the choke point for sure with those but it would tell us if the current heads are holding it back. When I win the megamillions I'll buy you a set of heads if you'll dyno test them back to back... ;-) is there any way you can get any kind of spacer under the carb? Even a 1/2" would probably help.

Those FAST guys massage the heck out of factory exhaust manifolds! Gessler used to do a lot of my Buick buddies manifolds and I think he does Pontiac manifolds.

Thanks Tom! Read through the post you sent and don't see anything abut iron manifolds and it was a considerably larger cam.
I'm just curious about the particular combo in this post, especially the stump puller with iron manifolds. Would the engine pick up significantly if you changed the heads and nothing else, or is the exhaust choking it too much?

The heads would help some for sure, the cam IMO is small for 455 and 290 CFM.Tom
