Is your car an auto or manual tranny? So the Sonny Ray car is/was a Post Lemans 455HO with T-41? Attached is scan from the April 1976 High Output newletter that references the car as a GTO. Nevertheless if it is/was a 455HO Post Lemans it is still very rare. |

Hey Guys, I want to give a special thanks to john for the drive up to see me and to look at the car. I have not had that much fun [with a car] in a long time.I enjoyed talking with people who knew what I have, not only pontiac, but all my cars.If nothing happens with the car, when I can, I would love the drive the car again. And thank everyone else for the commets on the old gto. Resurrecting this old thread. Kind of bittersweet. Wanted to let you guys know that on Saturday I got to bring home this wonderful Revere Silver Post Coupe 455HO '72 GTO. It has been 10 years since we learned about the car when Billy contacted LloydTX; 8 years since I met up with Billy to verify the car; and 3 years since Billy passed away. Billy's wife and son were ready to move on and kind enough to allow me the opportunity to become the new caretaker of "Billy's car". I can't thank them enough. I see this as an end to one chapter and the beginning of a new one. Below are some pics of the car.

Wow, congrats on finally getting the car! Would love to see the photos, but you'll need to attach the photos differently now that Photobucket stopped allowing links to third-party websites.

Cool story, cool car! What are your future plans for the car? Full restoration or get it running as a survivor car? Does it still wear its original paint?

I plan to get it running again and cruise around in its patina look. But the long term plan is to restore it.

Well glad to see the car finally will get some much needed attention! Wish I could have bought it John, just never could get Billy to understand the amount of restoration it needed and gave up? Keep us up to date on your progress! I still have all those picture's of everything you sent me. Did you get the extra motor also?
Lyn.

Billy's son had sold the Nunzi built 428 crate motor to someone else right after Billy had passed away. However, I did get the matching number block, 7F6 cylinder heads and other goodies that originally came on this car.

Hi Mark. I will say that I have never seen so much water in my life. I am very blessed that I did not to get water in my house from Hurricane Harvey. Mother Nature can be a beast!
You are on my list to contact when I start tearing into this car. I know you hold the "road map" to the restoration of these cars. |

Great looking car John - glad you got the original engine and other goodies. Does Lloyd know you got it yet? Haven't seen him posting much these days. Hope his health is holding up.
