Default Door panels

My tempest is a tempest custom. I know in 64 there is no difference in door panels between GTO and Lemans but did the cheaper tempest use a less flashy door panel? All the catalogs list GTO/lemans door panels but no Tempest. I am not concerned with originality so I will buy what's in the catalog but I just wondered if there was an appearance difference.

The Tempest Custom didn't have carpet on the door panels and I believe they use a different material and pattern on the doors. Searching the archives is your friend. I know there are some pictures there.

Thanks b man. I think the lemans and gto door panels will look just fine. Only the keenest eye will pick it up and I like the little diecast pontiac emblems

Now I am confused because my buddy's tempest custom just like mine has the GTO/Lemans door panels with no carpet at the bottom which I don't want anyway. I am just gonna order the lemans door panels and go with it.

Legendary and PUI both accept special orders for a minimal fee- so you can get the lemans/gto ones made w/o the carpet if thats what you prefer.

Legendary you can call or email directly and speak to their custom Shop and explain what you want. PUI you will need to call a vendor and have them submit the request for you since they don't deal directly with the public.

Just off the phone with Ames and the rep told me the 64 panels for GTO /Lemans will not fit my Tempest Custom conv. He says the shapes are not the same, so I called PUI and they basically told me they don't do a Tempest panel and have no plans to change that.
Feel free to share any thoughts on this. I am not looking to keep car this factory original, and thought the Ames Legendary or PUI items would work so I'm a little confused.
