I've located a correct block, heads, crank, intake, oil pan (all from the same engine) for my restoration. It's all apart, rumor is the #1 bearing was spun. Needs to be totally gone through and put back together. What is it worth?

The YS block was installed in 44,000+ 1968 GTOs so not a rare piece. There's a guy on here selling a standard bore YS block from a 70 for $600 so that gives you ball park. #16 heads and the matching intake manifold aren't rare either. If I was me I'd ask the owner if he would let me take block and crank to a machine shop to see if they will clean up at 0.030 and .010, respectively. If so, and the heads are in good shape, AND the casting dates were about two months prior to my vehicle build date, I'd offer $1000 for everything and work my way up from there based on condition and how eager you are to get going on it.

Yep, my 68 is a YS. Value only increases if it's original to the car it's sitting in. Then it's worth quite a bit, but take it out and put it in another car .... not so much

Ok thanks for the information. Pending inspection by an engine shop I was going to offer $750 for it

We sold a turn key WT 1968 engine about a year ago for $1400.00 that was with no carb or pulleys.

Good to know. I have a complete 1969 engine with 15K miles on it that I may be looking to get rid of if this 68 ys engine works out.

Engines that are ready to drop in will usually bring more.
