Default Can I tell you bout my #'s matching engine?

Hey! I have a #'s matching engine!

Wanna see it? Go ahead, click on the pics!

I'm going tell everybody! I'm going tell people I don't even know, who don't even care!

I'm going to discuss it, elaborate on it and talk about it till I'm blue in the face and they're red!

Explain how rare and desirable it is, how I built it myself and on and on... eventually provoking violence leading me to possibly stop.

Obviously I'll just turn to the next poor bast-, er uh, person.

But I just wanted to share it with you guys first cuz I know of your great interest.

Have I told you about my #'s matching engine?

Have you seen my pics? ok ok I'll STO00oooppp!!!

Fine!... I'll tell someone else.......

Edit: I just stumbled across a block that had the same date code as my heads, anyone else ever do that? Now I need a intake dated L197 ....

What car does it match.
I don't see an iron intake or chrome covers.

Matching Intake Manifold? Distributor? Carb? Water pump? Fuel pump?

It may be a date matching block and heads, but the main numbers aren't shown?

That's all it is, I just happened to notice it.

Can I still say I have a matching #'s engine?

That has no bearing on the topic, and from my house, your entire engine appears to be matching numbers everything

We would be interested in more info on your (1) matching number engine.

All the numbers do not have to match. LOL.
Example...Block Jan. 15, 1969, Heads, Jan. 22, Distributor, Jan. 8, Water pump, Dec. 15, 68 and so on. As long as the dates are a week or so up to 3 months before your car's build date, you have a numbers matching engine...especially if the last 6 digits of the VIN match the numbers on your block but this is not always the case, 71 455 H.O. is just one example.

Not following you 100%. What isn't always the case? 71 455 H.O. is just one example of what?

It's not numbers matching if the partial VIN doesn't match. It can be date correct and/or code correct, but without that VIN it's not numbers matching.

I have a matching numbers engine in my '68.... Partial VIN and EUN match the billing history and dash VIN...However, block was cast 7 MONTHS before the car was built.

I have a numbers matching engine, a 455 and on the side of the block the 5s match perfectly.

There are some years and models, where the numbers on the block do not match the VIN.

dataway = "from my house, your entire engine appears to be matching numbers everything"

Thanks data that's what I was counting on.

johnta1 = We would be interested in more info on your (1) matching number engine.

Thanks for pointing that out John.

I was worried, er uh I mean wondering if you wee going to ask.

Ok, well, it's pretty simple,

It's a bit heavy for the size and seems to be the wrong color blue.

It has the spark plug option delete at present, along with the carb, water, fuel, oil pump etc. etc.

These option deletes were not available till I got hold of it, I'll have to work on that.

As for the performance, lets just say it doesn't miss, and hasn't used a drop of gas.

MarkS57 = Hey, that looks like a numbers matching engine!

Thanks Mark, that's awful gracious considering you obviously realize I'm full a chit.

71 T/A = especially if the last 6 digits of the VIN match

Thanks 71 T/A but the vin doesn't match, this is a case of I wish I had a #'s matching engine, thought I'd have some fun since the block and heads are (day) coded.

Heads from the block pictured above are dated L267, intake date is L167.

The L197 heads on the block above were on a 71 400YX in the car when I got it, they are most likely original to the car.

That was about the only original thing left of the driveline.

Makes one appreciate the term #'s matching engine, not that mine is of course.

Or is it...
