Default ID two Items?

It's either a whistle or a muffler? Very heavy and about a 3/4 threaded inlet.

What would you call this piece of furnture/desk?

Will a steam whistle work with compressed air? Don't have any stream around

Yes compressed air will work. But you would need a large volume of it.

Is it from a library?

Looked like at 1st an apothecary cabinet.
But it looks like a magazine/book racks on top?
Possibly a dewey decimal card type of cabinet?

I don't think it's a card catalog cabinet. Upper drawers looks like they would hold 8.5x11 sheets.
