Cam sync sensor
Besides LPI's whose are you using?
I'm sure there's a few garage built ones out there?? Anyone care to show pics and offer advice? I was told that I can grind off all of the pick ups on the pick up coil except one and that will work. Is it really that easy? Sounds too good to be true Kevin |

The Keens did that on theirs many years ago.
Removed 7 or the 8 lugs on the Ford distributor. So now they knew where the distributor was and where the crank sensor was. The Luhn Piece just looks for the trailing edge of the blade in the cam sync. Trailing edge of the lug does the same thing. Luhn Piece is a nice piece though. Tom V.

I modified an old mallory points distributor. and just used one of the poles that the weight used to pivot on as my "flag pole" to trigger a magnetic MSD sensor I had laying around. It works a treat in my Megasquirt install

I believe it's $350 with a composite gear and yes definitely a nice piece.

Msd distributors should lock out if you spin the inner shaft 180 around and yeah just cut 7 tabs off the reluctor and you're gold. I did that with my old MSD BUT didn't like the look of the cap there doing nothing because I run 8 LS coils with plug wires about 10" long.

What are you using for EFI?
I am running megasquirt, and took the HEI module out of the dist, and am using the stock recultor wheel with 8 teeth as a crack trigger. I know not as accurate being the slop in the cam and things, but once set up, works great. And have seen others do the same by grinding off all but one tooth for just a cam signal.

That being said, not that hard to make a simple cover for a Mallory Distributor Housing.
