It's a "classic"...

Maybe because I grew up in the era that I did, my father spent his whole adult life in the automobile business and was a car lover... I have always understood that the definition of a "classic" car was as described the the Classic Car Club of America:

The Club defines CCCA Classics or Full Classic™ Cars as "...fine or unusual motor cars which were built between and including the years 1915 to 1948. All of these are very special cars that are distinguished by their respective fine design, high engineering standards and superior workmanship." They were usually quite expensive when new with relatively low production figures. You won't find your Mom's '72 Plymouth Duster or your Grandfather's Model A Ford in the ranks of CCCA. We applaud other clubs who do recognize these cars and recognize that owning one can be a lot of fun, but they are not what CCCA is all about.

I don't call my 1949 Cadillac Series 75 factory limousine a "classic" - it's not old enough. It fits all the other requirements except it's a 1949 instead of a 1948. It's one of 626 ever built (not because of some goofy color scheme or option - but because it is what it is). It has the fine design, was the first year of the Kettering OHV V8, was expensive and had superior workmanship. But it's not a classic.

My '64 GTO convertible is a very desirable car - but it's not a classic either.

All my cars are "collectible" cars. I'm good with that.

An unfortunate amount of ads have the word "rust" somewhere in them. Once I see that word and its no preceded by the word "no" I just move on. It would be awesome if fewer old cars had that word with them.

I hope your right about the term Tribute. Tribute = Clone

"Resto Mod" Whoever started that term should have their head examined.

A restored car is a car that's restored and put back like it was new, so a modified car negates any form of the term restored.

The ones I always come up against are: Rust Free. To me that means never rusted but to others it means rot bomb with the holes filled with bondo and now bubbled everywhere. Ram Air = anything with a hood scoop. Loaded = power steering.
