George,IF he dropped his motor and trans/converter in my car he would be more or less 1000lbs lighter. 4 bars more and my car would be 6.0 legal. ....I'd gladly take one for the team..and sit out a year S/ST racing to let Billy go deeeep in the 6's.....When it gets down to it those ECM guys are pretty good guys...sure they talk hella shhhhiiiiiituff but they without a doubt respect all our Pontiacs in 1 way or another...

GTOGeorge,
Do you own or use a weather station? Temperature is only one of a number of elements used in calculating DA. Also at the same DA Grains of water also matters.

Stan, that's one of George's trap questions.... a LOT more information needed to give an accurate answer.

Trying to make it simple for the simple non-racers. I hate long post. I was in Kentucky 2 years ago running an 8.50 class in 100 degree temp I ran a 8.54.....next day temp was 87 degrees out i ran an 8.46 no other changes. Point being a weather changed and I picked up almost a .10. I didn’t lose 100 lbs I didn’t make any engine changes.....just weather. So when comparing HP levels in cars everything needs to be taken in consideration.

I personally think weather is some what of a non issue, when people run a personal best it's usually in killer air. I'd wager that almost all the ets/mph post on that chart were done in darn good air in the fall or early spring so i doubt there are huge swings to be seen. Just my opinion.

Just saying if someone is going to complain about HP in a lighter car or compare two cars they should also consider the weather conditions, some racers can't make it out in mineshaft conditions! I like to compare same day, same track results no WHINING then, takes the guessing out! Thats why I like Norwalk.....it gets most of the who's, who's of Pontiacs out there on the SAME day.

My God George, what would be the real BIG difference? 2 cars running 7.80, one in 85 degrees the other 55 degrees .
Or 1 car running 7.80 at 2200lbs or the other going 7.80 at 3600.
You know the phucking answer you just like to stir th chit!!
As stated before by slowbird, most guys post there fastest time and I'll bet they were all when it was cool out.

A good tuner could've cut that difference in half.....just saying.

Well, if you're ever racing in my area I'd be happy to meet you and help you out. We could probably tune that Bad Boy right into the sevens!

Exactly. If everyone on the list makes a bunch of runs in all different conditions, then that minimizes weather as a variable.

Normally, but for some of the top fastest Pontiac guys they only run at certain races?
(like Norwalk)

It's never a mineshaft conditions then, usually not good racing conditions.

Look up Rob P posts on here for the original list he started way back.

The numbers are what they are. That car that day went from a dead stop through the traps and that's it. Weather weight tire size just indicates factors in the equation. Anyone who is running in the 7s with a door car is flying. It's not cheap with a light car just a bit easier than with a tank. How many times you can do this without issues shows tuning ability and correct design.
