new project - 1968 Firebird
Through an unusual turn of events, a friend decided to sell a car he's been looking for for a while even though he just recently purchased it. He knew I was interested and even though I'm in the middle of an Olds W machine frame off resto, I couldn't pass up this opportunity.
1968 Firebird 400 from California. 400 auto, 3.08 single track. dual horns. deluxe wheel discs and deluxe steering wheel. power steering, soft ray glass - windshield only. conventional spare tire. console and dual exhausts. original autumn bronze with parchment interior. a prior owner painted over that with burgundy. I have the PHS and understand almost all of it. The interesting thing, this car has heater delete, which I was led to believe was export only. The interior is mostly original. Headliner was replaced, the rear window windlace is missing and the dome light wasn't re-installed. An aftermarket stereo was put in it at one point, so some things were modified - dash, kick panels and package tray metal. The vin matching TH400 is present. The original engine is gone and in it's place is a 70 400, XH code and #16 heads. It's runs and drives fine. It currently has Dougs headers, HEI, e-brock intake, carb, air cleaner and rocker arm covers. All those are getting replaced with correct items as this will be a Pure Stock Drags car for my wife. I'll get to drive/run it on occasion also. Eventually a correct RAI, which is in the process of being built, will go in the car. Here are a few pics Chris

Congrats - that's a very cool car!
Autumn Bronze/Parchment is a sweet color combo, too.

Very nice car. Autumn bronze is a great and rarely seen color. I hope you decide to change the color back.

Thanks guys.
it'll go back to Autumn bronze .... eventually. but no clue when. Wife wanted verdoro green. when I showed her pics of this car and told her what the original color was, she googled and said "oh I like that. it has to go back to the original color" :-) I'm in the process of trying to get the PHS scanned. Hopefully some of the smart guys on here can help me determine where the car was delivered new. I know zone 40 is export. charged to dealer 222, shipped to dealer 044. There is a K class on the invoice no. The state cd "to" is 50 (Alaska? for a heater delete car? really?) and "from" is 04, Calif, which I'm pretty sure on that one. The car has spent time in Calif, Vermont, maybe Michigan and obviously IL. mysticmissle, do you have some #31 heads available by change?

just curious since you don't see them available that often.
a few years ago I bought a pair of RAI heads, along with intake and distr. I wouldn't mind another pair of heads though

I was finally able to get a small enough image of the phs to attach. If anyone happens to know the 'charge to' and 'ship to' dealers that would be great. I may start another thread also as people may be more inclined to check that
Thanks, Chris

That is a great car!
Like the color but also like Autumn bronze so it would be a toss up for me. What does the dash block off look like? – do not remember ever seeing one. If you need the RA set-up, I still have a set that needs painting from last year that I would really discount. Brian

Thanks Brian. I bought a set up from you already. Ironically, I told my friend about the ram air stuff you have and he bought a set too. Then he decided to sell the car. This car. To me. So now I'll have two setups.
