Default Door Hinge finish

What is the correct finish of door hinges including the hinge pivot pin & lever?
Was the entire hinge body color, painted while attached to door or hinge pillar?

Which hinge screws were not body color?
Door side or body pillar side?

Thanks!

I believe the hinge and bolts would be painted body color.
Here is some interesting reading...were Camaros and Firebirdsmade at the same plants?ifso, this would apply to Firebirds as well as Camaros.

When I worked on the line at a B-O-P plant in 1972, the hinges were bolted on raw, and sent thru the primer dip tank.

The body from the firewall was then painted.

So the hinges and bolts were painted body color.

And since doors were bolted to car before any painting the mating surfaces should be bare steel. This is important if you have power windows as it helps insure a good ground.

On the same thought process the door latches, strikers, trunk hinges and bolts as well as the trunk latch were all installed before any painting so they should also be body color and/or overspray with bare steel mounting points. The exception is a power trunk, the power trunk latch-actuator assembly would be added after painting so it should have no overspray.

I hung thousands of door hinges at the Framingham B-O-P plant from 1972 to 1974.

There was a maroon sealer that was applied between the hinge and the car body.

Most of in squeezed out, but it was meant to keep water out of the bolts and the moveable plate that allowed adjustment.

The hinges came into the plant bare steel, covered in a protective oil.

I agree that those hinges had that sealer but most of it did indeed get squished out. This was only for door hinges. Not on the trunklid to hinges.
