"My side" of the LeMans is dismantled, wire brushed, primer paint. Ready to begin assembly tomorrow! STOKED!!...
![]() ![]() I just might be getting the hang of this....Time will tell...and how the 1/4 fits will tell.....

Have fun...I actually enjoy tossing rusty metal out and welding new stuff in...as long as it fits. It's like building a big ol' 1:1 scale model!

Clark says, "Passenger side is yours". 5 hrs yesterday, 3 hrs today....getting closer to welding in place. Might get in some welding time tomorrow! She's once again looking like a LeMans Sport....
![]() ![]() 1st photo is before I got started with the air chisel....BTW this is the exact method Tim Taylor would have used!...More Power....UH, UH, UH!!!... ![]() ![]()

Z4, That looks rather familiar! Good luck with your build. There is a lot to be said for doing some of it yourself...Nice to be able to talk intelligently about it... ![]() Keep up the great work....

Rear Shelf time...Funny...this is the first replacement and the only part (so I thought) that I purchased for this car!...
![]() What makes this restoration so much fun for me are the tools....Air Chisel, Cutoff Tools, Air Grinder....Uh, Uh, Uh....More Power!!!... ![]() These are not the easiest pieces to replace. One needs to proceed with care as not to ruin the sub structure that the shelf relies upon. This is the same structure that the trunk hinges and spring are housed on.... ![]() Not too bad underneath...Nothing that some Rust Restorer won't take care of...

I had another productive day at Basic Body and Paint. I had not a clue just how tough removing and installing the back shelf on a car was! I'm not real sure I can get anymore STOKED than I am right now. Can hardly wait to do some practice welding and install these panels for good....
![]() Rear section between the trunk and the glass is drilled and punched.... ![]() Rear Quarters and punched for spot welding into their permanent home... ![]() WOW! for a first fitting...not too shabby...for an old retired hack.... ![]()

We set the trunk lid in place yesterday! Fit and welded the rear deck shelf into place...
![]() WOW! The gaps on the rear quarters are amazing! Especially when you are working with someone that knows the business. This is not his first rodeo!... ![]() Test fit the bumper before any welding was done. Need to make sure we had enough adjustments on the bumper bracing to make her fit like a glove....a new glove, I might add. As you can tell, there is enough wiggle room to pull her up tight!...

For not being OEM sheet metal, these two rear quarters, inner & outer wheel houses along with the trunk panels have fit very well. I am so excited to get them welding into place and begin cleaning and prepping the doors and front fenders.... ![]() Progress for sure!...

Have the trunk welding into place and smoothed the welds. I worked with the DA Sander and now have her ready for Etching Primer, Seam Sealer, and her final coat of Trunk Spatter Paint...
![]() Outer Wheel House is in place along with the Trunk Floor Drop Off Fillers..

Had some wonderful news yesterday as I "uncovered" my right front fender...
Solid from one end to the other!... ![]() These fenders are like hen's teeth! Try to find one or for that matter, a pair in this condition... ![]() Need to do a little work on the drivers side fender. Not a problem! At least I don't have to find "new" ones....not real sure they are out there.... ![]()

You will be done before you know it. Once it is you, will have a greater sence of appreciation for the Lemans. Since your doing the work. I am having the same feelings. Can't wait to drive my car again !!!!
