I had all new body bushings so no sag. I didn’t have to modify my tunnel at all it went right in. The only thing I can tell you is that you may need adjustable uppers in the rear because I did. My driveshaft is between 1-2 now.

The way I understand it, the top example (low strain, no vibe) causes single point wear in the u-joints. I'd pick "moderate strain, minimum vibe where the angles are the same on both u-joints.

I've seen the results of almost no angle on the U joints, because the needles never rotate, they form grooves in the cross, causing play even when fully lubricated. Ideally slight angle will cause the needles to move, and wear all the components evenly.

I'd choose #2 myself.

Back on the topic of sourcing replacement tailpipes that are mandrel bent, I was very pleased with the tubing kit made by Flowmaster that I installed in my '66. You can buy just the tailpipe section from many vendors.

Do you have a picture of your car where you can see the flowmaster tailpipes?

My kit came with two options for the tailpipes (turn-down or straight) that were slip-fit. I chose the turn-downs so that I was able to hide all of the exhaust tubing behind the lower quarter panel except for the turn-down at the very end. I'm not a fan of visible exhaust tubing hanging underneath the quarter panels.

The pair of tailpipes that I linked to above would just need to have small turn-downs put on the very end of them if that's what you wanted to do. Or you could go straight out if that's your preference.

Yes that cam is underutilizing the money you have sunk into those heads.

I see this all too often with the builds that folks post about in this street section.

That .470” lift is just starting to get into the lift range where the added flow capacity of aftermarket heads ( even just out of the box) start to shine.

As far as my thinking goes goes any after market head should be run with a minimum of .525” lift .

Your .470” lift is sacrificing ( due to low port air speed) a lot of added torque you could be having the motor producing, and probably a minimum of an added 25 hp.

The added port air speed would make a day and night difference in throttle response feel.

In short your heads are like a fire hose with a glass of water passing thru it, there’s only minimal port energy taking place..

As I look back thru this crazy 6 year long string of post, of which at least 50% of them should have been posted up in the body work section I see where in post 158 where you fell into the trap of having your heads ported and opening your wallet even wider for that port energy reducing mod in terms of the cam you are now running.

So to recap,
You paid for more air flow then you are now using and not using that air flow capacity is costing you power .

$2500 for basically a headliner is ridiculous. Or are the rear panels you just got covers for?

Those rear panels assembled repop are like $175 for a pair, and are bolt it.

The sail panels are just cardboard with material glued to them. I would imagine those are fairly inexpensive too.

You need to shop that better, bow headliner installs should be under $1000, and that's on the high end.

That’s kinda what I figured. Paul Carter spec’d me a cam on my ill fated first build that was awesome but when the engine grenaded I just didn’t have the money to do a roller setup at that time. Cars still plenty fast right now and I can’t really abuse it cause of the 3rd gear issue. Oh well I kept the voodoo cam because only one lobe needs to be reground. I’ll do it one day.

I called three upholstery shops near me and one on the Eastern Shore and all were between $1200-1600 for a headliner and sail panel install on my 66 - me supplying the parts - assembled sail panels, Legendary. One place said they had to remove the rear window to do the job.
