I found a pair of '70 Chevelle fenders for a decent price IF they are what the owner believes. He says he believes they are NOS. The question is: Is there any way to differentiate between NOS and repop if the paper labels are no longer on them?

I would say , if he is not SURE they are NOS..............they probably are NOT

If GM, possibly some numbers stamped into the reinforcement area, the section that the hood hinge bolts to.
If they fit like crap, easy answer.
Seriously, if a rough original is available I would compare the shape of the attaching flanges, the welding methods and weld appearance. Almost no one tries to duplicate those features exactly.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to compare to. I don't even have a Chevelle currently. I thought I may have found a good deal and I figured if there was some way I could tell if they were GM or not I'd snatch them up as my wife would really like me to rebuild a '70-'72 Chevelle some day.

Don't think I've ever seen a GM body part without some kind of stamping on it somewhere.

I agree about the numbers stamping. Usually there is some sort of number stamped into gm sheet metal except maybe door skins.

i have some nos 68 chevelle fenders, they have plant and date codes stamped in them, when i get home in a couple days i will post a pic..all GM stuff ive ever seen has the stamp..its a series of numbers stamped on a flange, usually the top of the fender, where it is folded down at the hood area

The ad is gone now so he must have sold them or given up. I doubt they were the real deal as he could not find any stamped numbers on them when I asked him to look.
