Default RC15 radiator cap mystery.

I've been working on a friends 68 the past few weeks setting some things right on the car and noticed his radiator cap yesterday. Something just didn't look right and then I focused in on the fact that the AC logo was on the right side of the cap instead of the left. Spent some time looking through every picture on ebay I could find of an RC15 and everything is the same as this picture, AC on the left and size on the right. His has these two circles reversed. I apologize I forgot to take a picture to prove it, I can add it next week when I'm over there again.

Anyone ever see this before? I seriously doubt its a repop, it's been on the car since he bought it 25 years ago and it shows some pitting from even before that when it got painted before the resto back then. it's not a stainless replacement but the original steel style.

no comments at all?

here's the promised picture

I've looked through every picture I can find of one of these online and the AC is always on the left, not the right

25 years ago is still the 1990's ... might have been some re-pops by then if the cap was the same as used on earlier models.

I'm sure you've noticed the rivet is also different. Very lightly stamped ...but then I've seen originals like that also.

Could just be a fluke, the factory probably has different stamping dies they load in for a batch of caps.

There were repo's then. I have the first repo somewhere if I can find it.
