Default 66 GTO trunk light placement

I know this was posted about 7 years ago and a pic was sent to the person posting. I have the same question of where the light is supposed to be mounted.
It is the retractable type. and which wire in the trunk harness does it get connected to?
Thanks in advance

The dome light circuit (Orange, HOT/White) off the ribbon harness in the trunk
above the DS well is were the power is supplied for factory trunk light.

A reel-out light though not correct will tap the same power source.
If you don't already have one you may need the jumper from M&H or other suppliers

If the retractable trunk light is not proper, then is the light a mercury switch type that just clips to the hinge?

The correct type for the '66 A-Body mount in the rearward DS opening within the deck lid.
The BLUE light lead is run up from the dome light circuit outlined earlier and retained to the lid hinge with 2 clips.
Also note the factory woven protection sleeve along the hinge portion, I don't recall if the new repro comes with that.
Snaking the lead through the lid bracing is a PITA but can be done.
