10.00 HP
How much HP is needed to go 9.90-10.10 in a race weight 2850lb car. Building a new power plant and trying to come up with the right combo. Thanks

Won't take much to do it there are literally tons of ways to get there. Good stock block...4 bolt mains with good caps and lifter braces...decent set of heads,a solid roller cam with stud girdles and your pretty much there. A good 5k+ converter and your runnin 9's all day long

600 hp is right. Is that still 300 cfm heads?
...got a 2-bolt block (drilled for 2-bolt) that has been mid-9" in a door car. Looks fine. |

Was going to start with 461ci. Looks like I'll need heads, currently 670s that flow 230cfm, guess they won't cut it

The 670s will cut it if they get ported to 275 cfm and chambers get machined out to later open style!

Less than 600 at the flywheel COULD get you 10 flats... POSSIBLY less than 570 hp... However it would be best to build to 600 + hp and dial back if need be.

2 bolt factory blocks with studs are good to 600-650HP. Not really worth it to do the billet cap thing anymore.
SD Performance has a 265+ cfm CNC program for 670s. Its around 1600$ for a complete pair of heads ( your cores) setup for Solid roller. I had a set of 48s done and they went 272cfm. 600HP is not hard with those heads. The guy I sold them to (never run) has them for sale for less than I got for them. 2,000$. Worth every penny. Cores are worth 400$. They have full bronze guides, hardened seats, Ti retainers, filled crossovers. 69-70ccs. Great heads, wish I did not sell them. |

According to Wallace, my 3100 # car with driver that went 10.05 has 543 HP at the rear tires and 603 HP at the flywheel.
