Default What’s it Worth? 1968 Firebird

The time has come to sell my 68. Its a driver. Original 350 engine. Was an automatic originally, now a Muncie 4 speed. Rear end is 3.23 8.2. Runs, drives nice. Brakes were redone, front suspension bushings replaced.

Quarters were replaced way back when. Overall, it’s a decent driver. Mostly solid. I’ve had this car a long time, but it’s time. Trying to get an idea of where the market is at currently.

12-15? And by mostly solid do you mean there are some bubbles or do whole panels need to be changed?

No bubbles. No panels need to be changed. I had it painted a few years ago in matte black enamel. I think if anything would have popped, it would have by now.

A few small patches on the floors. Trunk is solid.

Worth $15k min. Can you get that much ? Probably not. At least not on any of these Pontiac forums. These guys want bargains. You need to find an older retired guy, or one who has raised his kids, and now has money to spend on either a car like he had when he was young, or one he wanted, but couldn't afford.

I'd advertise on racingjunk.com & Ebay, for sure.

Some like craigslist--some hate it. There are both buyer & seller scammers out there.

Here's some more places to advertise. You can check these sites for cars similar to yours, to see what they're advertised for.

I agree. I see these kind of cars all the time on eBay, though the condition of your car is really nice. I see a lot of junk someone wants $15K for on eBay. The bottom line is that it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It looks like a nice car, so find out how much it's worth. I see the same cars run again and again on eBay for more than they're worth, but if the seller isn't in a hurry, you can leave the bobber in the water and wait for the person that is willing to pay top dollar.

1) Pick the lowest price you'd take for it. I'm not talking about the first offer minimum, but your actual bottom line. What number is that?

2) Take a lot of pictures and start a bid on eBay that runs 10 days using an auction with your absolute minimum number as a reserve. Start the ad on Thursday at 9:00AM. This way, it will end at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning and will span two weekends.

3) Take steps 1 and 2 that's what it's worth. Is it enough for you? It is what it is and I'm in the same boat and close to listing one of my converts. If you want to actually sell it, you'll get less that its perceived value. /2cents
