My 55 and 61 had the doors hung when the body was painted.....the latches and striker blocks were installed afterwards. So the hinges and bolts were painted. The latches and striker blocks were not.

I presume things remained that way through the 67 model year. So I would say hinges and bolts were painted body color in all years.

What have you guys done with your restorations? At the moment I am thinking it's my car and I should build it like I want it and the next owner can worry about it if it bothers him/her. Is this a mistake?

I am with you, I like the look of non painted latches, so I installed them after the doors were painted. Yes, I got nicked a point at the Nationals for it, but pfffft.
