This guy did my top motor 8 yrs ago for $125, and offered a lifetime guarantee if I used ATF. http://www.topmotorrepair.com/ His name is Jim and i think he was in South Carolina.

Its worked perfectly since, but I installed a relay setup to keep full voltage to the motor.

Sorry but dont know where to send the hydraulic cylinders. A local shop that does farm equipment hydraulics could likely look at them.

I’m going to use motorized linear accutators. With a small controller to keep them in sync.

My top quit recently. I traced power back to a dual relay setup in the trunk. The relays are 12 v moron. #g8p-114p us. Mounted on a circuit board. Power in, no power out to motor. Any idea where I can get a replacement setup. Thanks

I boxed up a nice working set of pistons, lines and motor years ago to save for a rainy day and the setup on my 69's still perfect so I'd sell my extra setup. If your interested email me at gto4evr@roadrunner.com and I can dig them out of storage for some pics.

Thanks. But the relays are inline before the motor. Found some on eBay. Will see how it goes

I got tired of rebuilding my switch every few years so I made a relay setup in front of the switch. It's a bad design, too much amperage running through the rocker switch to drive the motor on the factory setup and the contacts eventually burn. Easy fix taking it apart, filing the contacts, then the dielectric grease to save it for the next few years but eventually the contacts burn again.. Since I put the relays in about 5 years ago, no problems since. Seems like a lot of extra wiring to move the relays back in front of the motor, I'm curious what you've got going there. On mine I just took two relays, jumpers and it sits between the switch and the fusebox/motor harness with all factory connections.

Default Relay for cvt top switch

I just finished installing a relay I built for my cvt top switch. Bought relays and parts on eBay. Mounted in left corner behind dash. Connects with factory harness connections.

This is the wiring before the pump the short black connector is at the pump, the 2 piggybacked relays were encased in rubber. They mount on a circuit board which is grounded. (Black). Power to the board is fed directly from the switch One leg up. One down. Connector goes to body feed. This has worked for 18+ years. I found the 2 relays and will solder them onto the board. But am confused as to how they protect anything.

Zman, this may "work", but it's doing absolutely nothing. Relays allow you to control heavy amp loads with low amp 12v applied to them. you've got two wires in and two wires out so these relays are just wired in their normally closed positions and you're sending the high amp power feeds from the top switch through them. I think someone tried to create a circuit breaker kind of situation here but relays don't work that way.

The relay setups that I did and KK did take the load off the top switch and run the heavy amp runs to the motor from the relays in front of the top switch, not afterwards.

Again, you do what makes you feel happy, but that setup you're running there isn't doing anything at all other than treating the relays as an expensive butt connectors for you. It's wired for normally closed so basically it's on all the time and the high amp feeds are still running through the top switch.

That’s exactly what I thought when I found this wiring in the trunk. Thanks
