Rheen Heat Pump Reversing Valve Cracked
5 ton Rheem Heat Pump installed 2 years ago. Everything new including new lines for the latest refrigerant type. I recall larger dia. lines were needed.
Suddenly lost refrigerant, quit cooling. Service Tech says the reversing valve is cracked.
$950 for service call, diagnosis, labor, and refrigerant, I guess is reasonable. Part is "free" under warranty.
My question, did I just get unlucky or is this a common issue for Rheem Heat Pumps of this vintage. I can get Model No. if it matters.
I searched on line and saw a known issue for a particular Odyssey unit but nothing specific to the Rheem.
Do I have to worry about the compressor now?
Would it be worth contacting Rheem for any relief on the labor bill?
